PANTERA and EIRIE platform: Promoting Collaboration and Innovation

PANTERA final event FOSS, EPL

The PAN European Technology Energy Research Approach (PANTERA) project is an initiative funded by the EU’s Horizon 2020 program. Its primary objective is to establish a European forum that brings together key stakeholders involved in smart grids, energy storage, and local energy systems. This forum comprises policymakers, industry representatives, standardization bodies, and experts from research institutions and academia. By focusing on countries with limited involvement in clean energy research and innovation (R&I), PANTERA aims to enhance and strengthen the clean energy transition in the European Union.

Outcomes of the PANTERA workshop

During the final event of the PANTERA project, Venizelos Efthymiou, the project coordinator and one of DATA CELLAR partners, expressed his warm welcome to the project officer, Szilvia Bozsoki, the PANTERA consortium members, the day’s speakers, and all other participants. He highlighted the successful organization of workshops and nano-workshops in various EU member states.

Efthymiou proceeded to introduce the EIRIE platform, a significant outcome of the PANTERA project, which was developed with the support of the Joint Research Centre (JRC). He also provided insights into the structure of the “EIRIE Collaboration Space” in Confluence.

The Significance of EIRIE Collaboration Space

The “EIRIE Collaboration Space” in Confluence serves as a centralized platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration in the field of energy systems. Its capabilities and features make it an invaluable resource for users involved in clean energy research and innovation. By accessing this comprehensive platform, stakeholders can gather insights, conduct research, and make informed decisions related to energy systems.

One of the most significant advantages of EIRIE is its ability to adapt quickly to changing requirements, emerging technologies, and evolving knowledge in the energy sector. This agility ensures that the platform remains up-to-date and relevant, providing users with access to the latest information. As advancements occur in the field of clean energy, EIRIE can incorporate these developments seamlessly, enabling researchers and policymakers to stay at the forefront of the energy transition.

Furthermore, the collaborative nature of EIRIE fosters stronger research partnerships among stakeholders. By facilitating communication and knowledge sharing, the platform promotes collaboration among experts from diverse backgrounds, including policymakers, industry leaders, and researchers. This collaborative approach enhances the effectiveness of research efforts and accelerates the adoption of clean energy technologies and practices across the EU.

The Future of Research Collaboration in Clean Energy

The PANTERA project and the development of the EIRIE platform have laid a strong foundation for fostering research collaboration in the field of clean energy within the European Union. By bringing together key stakeholders and providing a centralized platform for knowledge exchange, the project has successfully addressed the challenges faced by countries with limited involvement in clean energy R&I.

Looking ahead, it is essential to continue nurturing research collaboration opportunities and expanding the reach of initiatives like PANTERA. By involving a broader range of stakeholders and promoting cross-border partnerships, the EU can leverage the collective expertise and resources to accelerate the clean energy transition.
