DATA CELLAR hosts its 7th General Assembly on the Aran Islands
The DATA CELLAR project marked its 36th month of progress with a successful 7th General Assembly held on May 27 to 28, 2025, at the scenic Aran Islands Hotel in Inis Mór, Ireland. As the project enters its final phase, just six months from completion, the two-day hybrid meeting gathered project partners to assess progress, align on remaining tasks and deliverables, and strengthen strategic planning for the months ahead.
The event, hosted by the Aran Islands Energy Cooperative (CFOAT), featured intensive sessions reviewing work packages and technical advancements. Day 1 opened with a warm welcome by the coordinator, Martina Galluccio from RINA Consulting, followed by in-depth presentations and discussions on:
- WP9 – Project Management and Coordination. RINA-C highlighted milestones achieved and outlined the coordinated roadmap for project closure.
- WP3 – Interoperability and Federation of the EU. Led by the University of Cyprus (FOSS), the session showcased integration activities with European data frameworks.
- WP4 – ICT Architecture and Platform Development. QUE Technologies presented architectural refinements and progress on cloud-edge platform components.
- WP5 – Data-Driven Energy Services. Ubitech Energy shared advancements in service design aimed at empowering local energy communities.
- WP7 – Capitalisation and Future Vision. RINA-C facilitated forward-looking discussions on sustaining DATA CELLAR’s outcomes and scaling to next-gen energy data ecosystems.
Participants also enjoyed cultural activities, including a tour to the prehistoric fort Dún Aonghasa, and a networking dinner, fostering collaboration beyond the conference room.
Day 2 continued with presentations on the remaining work packages and a workshop for the Inis Mór community:
- WP8 – Dissemination, Communication and Standardisation. Zabala Innovation provided updates on outreach strategies and upcoming events.
- WP6 – Data Marketplace, Tokenisation and DLT. LINKS demonstrate the integration of blockchain-enabled tools for energy data valorisation.
- Dashboard and Explainable AI Workshop. An engaging session involving FOSS, Trilateral Research and CERTH explored transparency and usability in AI tools. The aim was to make Artificial Intelligence easier to understand and to get insights from the participants to design user-friendly, intuitive dashboards for managing energy use.

The General Assembly concluded with a financial and wrap-up session by RINA-C and bilateral meetings, allowing partners to consolidate feedback and strengthen cooperation on key deliverables in the run-up to project finalisation.
As DATA CELLAR approaches its final six months, the consortium remains committed to delivering impactful tools and frameworks to support the creation and operation of local energy communities across Europe.
