DATA CELLAR at the Energy Justice Symposium
On 30 January 2025, DATA CELLAR was presented at the Energy Justice Symposium by Natalia Lisowska from the University of Groningen.
The presentation focused on five key points:
- What are energy data spaces and how they are regulated.
- Injustice and energy data spaces.
- Energy justice and data justice.
- Rationale for connecting energy and data justice.
- Preliminary findings on energy data justice as a normative framework for the design of energy data spaces.
The conclusion of the presentation focused on the fact that joint normative of data justice and energy justice should be used in the design of energy data spaces to ensure fairness in the treatment, representation and visibility of different actors. Natalia Lisowska explained that this would account for negative social justice implications of processing energy data and other (energy and data) injustices relevant for the design and operationalisation of energy data spaces, and therefore it would foster the green and digital transition of the energy sector.
